For devoted pet owners across Ellicott City, Maryland, and the wider Mid-Atlantic region, ensuring the well-being and mobility of their beloved four-legged family members is a top priority. Just like humans, animals can experience musculoskeletal discomfort, pain, and reduced performance due to spinal misalignments and other issues. This is where the specialized expertise of Maryland Animal Chiropractic, LLC, led by Dr. Thompson, DVM, becomes an invaluable resource. This clinic offers a unique and highly effective approach to animal health, providing compassionate, skilled chiropractic care that helps pets live more comfortable, active, and joyful lives.
Animal chiropractic is a specialized field that focuses on the nervous system and musculoskeletal system of animals. Similar to human chiropractic, it involves the diagnosis and treatment of vertebral subluxations (misalignments in the spine) and other joint dysfunctions. By restoring proper alignment and motion, animal chiropractors aim to reduce pain, improve nerve function, enhance mobility, and support the body’s natural healing processes. This complementary therapy is often recommended by veterinarians for a variety of conditions, including lameness, stiffness, performance issues in athletic animals, post-surgical rehabilitation, and as part of overall wellness care for aging pets. For Maryland pet owners, it represents a non-invasive, drug-free option to significantly improve their animal's quality of life.
What truly sets Maryland Animal Chiropractic, LLC apart is the profound dedication and expertise of its team, particularly Dr. Thompson. As a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with specialized training in animal chiropractic, she possesses a comprehensive understanding of both veterinary medicine and spinal health. This dual qualification ensures that care is integrated with a thorough knowledge of animal physiology and potential underlying conditions. The clinic’s commitment to a gentle approach, thorough evaluation, and personalized treatment plans has earned them heartfelt praise from numerous pet owners who have witnessed remarkable improvements in their animals.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Was referred by my vet to Dr. Thompson for chiropractic treatment for my 10 year old All-American dog who had some discomfort with his shoulder and decreased performance in his agility practices because of it. I had experienced other modalities such as acupuncture with good results, but was uncertain of how this would work out. I was extremely pleased with Dr. Thompson, she saw my dog 3 times and each time she carefully evaluated and adjusted him. Her gentle approach put my dog at ease and he tolerated the visits very well. Fixing his shoulder issue as well as other minor adjustments helped him feel much better. She even educated me as to warm up stretches to be done prior to agility practices to minimize injury. Am very satisfied with how Dr. Thompson's experience, skill, and gentle manner helped my dog.
Jun 17, 2025 · D HongWe were referred to Maryland Animal Chiropractic by our vet back in 2020 and to make a long story short, all 3 of our dogs have gone in for regular care with Dr. Thompson and her team, and we continue as patients to this day! We have utilized both chiropractic and the underwater treadmill services and we couldn’t be happier with the care our girls receive EVERY SINGLE TIME we visit. Honestly, we haven’t met a more caring team of animal lovers who clearly love what they do, and truly listen to every detail that we as owners share. Dr. Thompson clearly has a genuine and authentic love for her patients and has been pivotal in improving and maintaining the quality of life for our 4-legged family members. Abigail, who does the underwater treadmill, is simply wonderful and took care of our dog Zoe like she was her own. Just to give you an idea of the experience of going to MAC from our dogs’ perspective: our dogs get excited when we pull into the parking lot and pull us toward the door, just waiting to go inside! We both know how significant that is… We recommend MAC with all our hearts, and thank them for their life-changing care and expertise, in all regards! Is there a way we can give you a 100-star review?!?!
Mar 28, 2025 · Adam BennettWe saw Dr. Jean Thompson for the first time yesterday. My crotchety, nearly 17 year old Toy Fox Terrier was a perfect gentleman while Dr. Thompson checked him over and gently adjusted him. Everything Dr. Thompson explained made total sense, we were given some homework, and are returning in a week for some hydrotherapy. Our ecperience was maybe the best pet care experience we've ever had in all the years and dogs we've cared for

Mar 07, 2024 · Barry HeiseyFIVE BILLION STARS!!!!Words can't express my gratitude for Dr. Jean Thompson and her staff at MAC. Time and time again, Dr. Thompson has helped my elderly dog (and most precious companion) Joanne overcome pain and dysfunction in her body. Joanne LOVES Dr. Thompson! From acute injuries to more subtle age-related changes, Dr. Thompson's approach is a reliable gift to both of us, and something that allows Joanne to enjoy this tender season of her life with comfort and joy. After her adjustments, she is like a puppy again! The new office is immaculate and so well-planned. The under water treadmill will be an amazing addition! Appointments are always punctual, and scheduling is simple. Staff are organized, helpful, and so friendly. It's no exaggeration to say that everything is in place for each visit to be positive in every way. Most important to me is Dr. Thompson's way-of-being not only with my Joanne, but with all animals (and their people, too). She is calm, kind, caring, attentive, honest, and devoted. Her skill and knowledge speak for themselves, but her intuition is a rarity among practitioners. She comforts us. We feel she is a true partner in our care and lives. As a fellow professional in the field of animal bodywork, I can say objectively that Dr. Thompson's gift as a chiropractor is second to none. I would not take Joanne anywhere else, and I will continue to refer others to MAC!!
