Navigating pain and injuries can be a challenging experience, and finding a healthcare provider who understands your unique needs is crucial. Highland Park Spine & Sports Medicine prides itself on offering a variety of chiropractic and therapeutic services in a warm, comfortable, and friendly environment. While one patient's experience with "Dr. Mary" regarding shoulder pain was less than satisfactory, highlighting issues with listening and the effectiveness of treatment, another review enthusiastically praises "Dr. Collings" for her remarkable skill and ability to put patients at ease. This suggests a practice with multiple practitioners, each with their own approach. The clinic’s connection to professional sports teams like the Dallas Mavericks and Cowboys further highlights its potential for specialized sports-related care, a significant asset for active Texans.

Highland Park Spine & Sports Medicine offers a diverse array of chiropractic and therapeutic services, catering to patients of all ages and activity levels. Based on available information, their services extend beyond typical adjustments, encompassing a more comprehensive approach to musculoskeletal health.
- Chiropractic Adjustment: This is the core of their service, aimed at correcting spinal misalignments to improve nervous system function and reduce pain. They emphasize allowing the body to align itself correctly after adjustments.
- Spinal Decompression Therapy: Utilizing advanced non-surgical and pain-free options like the Triton DTS machine for treating neck and low back pain, pinched nerves, sciatica, and bulging or degenerative disc diseases. This therapy gently stretches the spine to relieve pressure and enhance natural healing.
- Massage Therapy: Providing manual techniques to positively affect muscular, skeletal, lymphatic, circulatory, and nervous systems, aiding in recovery from illness and injury. This includes medical massage, pregnancy massage, sports massage, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy.
- Hands-On Tissue Therapy: Specific manual techniques for addressing soft tissue issues.
- Interferential / Muscle-Stim Treatment: Utilizing electrical stimulation to reduce pain and muscle spasms.
- Stretches, Strengthening, and Range of Motion Exercises: Prescribing and guiding patients through therapeutic exercises to improve flexibility, strength, and overall mobility.
- Manual Spinal & Extremity Manipulation: Adjustments not just of the spine but also of peripheral joints.
- Therapeutic Modalities: Employing various tools and techniques to aid in recovery and pain management.
- Proprioceptive Taping of Spine & Extremities: Applying specialized taping to support and stabilize joints and muscles.

Highland Park Spine & Sports Medicine boasts several significant features and highlights, though it's important to note varying patient experiences.
- Dr. Mary Collings’ Elite Reputation: Dr. Collings is highly praised as "absolutely wonderful," "kind," "sweet," and "strong." She is the official chiropractor for the Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars, with over 20 years of experience adjusting professional athletes, including those over 7 feet tall. This unique experience speaks to her skill in handling a wide range of body types and complex athletic needs.
- Experience with Professional Athletes: The clinic's association with NFL and NBA players (Mavericks and Cowboys) underscores its capability in sports-specific chiropractic care and high-performance recovery.
- Warm and Calming Atmosphere: Patients describe the clinic as having a "warm and calming atmosphere," with a "spotless, organized, and clearly well-cared for" space that immediately puts them at ease.
- Professional and Personable Balance: Dr. Collings is noted for being the "perfect balance of professional and personable," taking time to listen and explain everything clearly, making patients feel genuinely cared for.
- Comprehensive Service Offerings: The wide array of services, including spinal decompression, various massage therapies, and rehabilitative exercises, indicates a holistic approach to patient care, not just limited to adjustments.
- Patient Comfort: The design of their DTS Therapy (Spinal Decompression) machine allows for comfort and safety during treatment.
However, it is crucial to address the negative feedback regarding "Dr. Mary." One patient reported that "Dr. Mary did absolutely nothing for my shoulder pain," felt she "kept jumping to a conclusion before I finished," and "did no adjustments" for their specific issue, only recommending stretches that were ineffective. This indicates a potential inconsistency in patient experience or a difference in treatment approach between practitioners, and it is a significant factor for prospective patients to consider.

Highland Park Spine & Sports Medicine Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Dr. Mary did absolutely nothing for my shoulder pain. I visited Dr. Mary because I had an issue with my shoulder for a couple of months. I found it hard for her to really listen to what my issue was because she kept jumping to a conclusion before I finished. I'll be honest, she did absolutely nothing for me that I wasn't already doing myself. She did no adjustments, though she did do the movements like she was trying to do an adjustment. The best thing that helped is the electric pulser to relax your muscles, but you can get those for about $20 on Amazon, so there's no need to pay $150 for a "chiropractor" visit. I understand that she's the chiropractor for many Dallas sports players, so obviously she has SOME knowledge, but maybe she picks and chooses who she will actually do something for. I did the stretching that she recommended for more than two months after my visit, but it did nothing for my pain.
Dec 29, 2021 · Cole ReaganDr. Collings is absolutely wonderful. She is so kind and conveniently puts each patient at ease with casual conversation as she quietly transforms their skeleton back to a healthier, happier position. She has been adjusting the Mavericks as well as some of the Cowboys for many years!!!Feel rest assured that she has had over 20 years of experience adjusting athletes over 7 ft tall. She is sweet and she is strong. No matter what size person you are, she can handle you.😊
May 15, 2015 · Catherine PierceI had dull ache in the neck/shoulder area that developed overnight into an acute pain that caused muscle spasms in my shoulders, biceps, and triceps as well as tingling in my right hand. I called (as a new patient) on Wednesday and they got me in for an appointment with Dr. Mary early on Thursday.I filled out the online new patient intake form that night, and signed a few more consent/release forms when I arrived at the office for my appt on Thursday. Mary took a brief 5 minute history of what my current issue was and quickly identified three possible causes for my pain. She gave me an overview of what might trigger each of those causes, and went to work on the problem(s).If I had to try to quantify the improvement I felt after that first visit, I'd put it this way. When I got to the office, I was operating at about 25%, including audible winces while driving about every 5 minutes. After my first visit, I'd say I was back up to 60-65% (after almost 2 weeks of varying levels of pain) and drove back to work without a whimper. She also asked me to have a coworker take a photo or two of me at my desk so that she could evaluate my office setup and posture, as the ergonomics of my work space is probably a major contributing factor to how i got my upper body into this mess. Seems like a logical/practical way to help a patient in the longterm, and I'm looking forward to implementing her suggestions. Finally, after our session, Dr. Mary gave me some motions to do on my own to speed up the recovery process. She had me pencil in an appointment for the next week, but then said she hoped I wouldn't need to actually use it if I was diligent about doing those stretches/exercises. Having had a couple experiences with chiropractors in the past, it's refreshing to see that not everyone is trying to sign you up for 16 weekly visits when 1 or 2 might address the immediate problem.I'm looking forward to not going back next week....but if I have to I expect that it'd result in another big step towards full recovery.
Feb 28, 2019 · Christopher HarrisI have been a patient of Mary for 18 yrs now. She helped me through sports, military and now the back pain from raising two kids and coaching over 80 athletes weekly. She truly cares and you can't find someone like her often.
Apr 29, 2016 · parker toliverMy experience with Dr. Collings has been nothing short of amazing. I had been on a ten-month journey to find and fix the source of intense groin pain that had led me to a hip specialist, an orthopedic surgeon, two neurologists, and two other chiropractors. I was on heavy pain medication and walking with a cane. After my first visit to Dr. Collings, I was pain free. I burst into tears of joy on the drive home, convinced for the first time that there was hope. Six months later I set aside my cane, and now (years later) I lead a completely normal life. I am intensely grateful to Dr. Collings for giving me my life back.
