Pain Stop Wicker Park is a clinic focused on providing relief from physical discomfort through a combination of chiropractic adjustments and massage therapy. The core philosophy of the clinic appears to be centered on addressing pain and improving the body's natural healing capabilities. While the name "Pain Stop" clearly indicates a focus on pain alleviation, the services offered suggest a broader approach to physical well-being. Chiropractic care aims to address issues related to spinal alignment and nerve function, which can be the root cause of various aches and pains throughout the body. Complementing this, massage therapy is employed to relax muscles, reduce tension, improve circulation, and enhance overall body function. The clinic's objective is to help individuals feel better, move more freely, and experience a reduction in their discomfort, contributing to a better quality of life for their patients.

Pain Stop Wicker Park primarily offers two core services: chiropractic adjustments and massage therapy. These services are designed to work synergistically to address pain, improve mobility, and promote overall physical well-being.
- Chiropractic Adjustments: This service focuses on the spine and nervous system. Qualified chiropractic doctors at Pain Stop Wicker Park perform spinal adjustments, which involve applying controlled force to specific joints to correct misalignments (subluxations). These adjustments aim to alleviate pressure on nerves, reduce pain, restore proper joint function, and enhance the body's natural ability to heal itself. Patients often seek chiropractic care for conditions such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, and issues related to posture.
- Massage Therapy: Pain Stop Wicker Park offers therapeutic massage services. As indicated by customer reviews, these massages can be deep and highly effective for muscle tension and discomfort. Massage therapy helps to relax tight muscles, increase blood flow, reduce inflammation, and improve flexibility. It can be used as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments to maximize pain relief and promote recovery. Different massage techniques might be utilized depending on the client's needs, from targeted deep tissue work to more general relaxation.
Pain Stop Wicker Park has several features and highlights that are evident from the provided information, though some aspects present a mixed experience for customers.
- Focus on Pain Relief: The name "Pain Stop" itself highlights the primary objective of the clinic: to help individuals find relief from various types of physical pain and discomfort. This clear focus is attractive to those specifically seeking solutions for their aches and pains.
- Combined Modalities (Chiropractic and Massage): The offering of both chiropractic adjustments and massage therapy under one roof is a significant highlight. For many, integrating these two approaches can provide more comprehensive and effective relief, as spinal alignment and muscle tension are often interconnected.
- Skilled Massage Therapists: Despite one uncomfortable experience, another review highly praises Isabel for her "very special massage techniques" that do "wonders." This indicates the presence of highly skilled therapists capable of delivering significant therapeutic benefits, including body toning and firming, and leaving clients feeling "younger." This suggests a strong capability in providing effective massage therapy.
- Accessibility and Location: Being located on Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park makes the clinic highly accessible via public transportation and for residents in a vibrant urban area. This ease of access is a key convenience for local users.
It is important to note the mixed reviews, particularly concerning the overall "uncomfortable experience" and specific operational aspects like the "no frills" environment, curtain doors, and perceived lack of professionalism from one staff member. However, the positive review strongly highlights the quality of specific services, particularly massage.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I'm shocked at the positive reviews for this place. Writing this to spare others an uncomfortable experience. Yesterday, I went for a 60min massage. I walk in and it's no frills, like others have said, which is fine. I check in at the front desk and it seems like the woman doesn't really know what she's doing, again fine. Then she takes me to the one of the "rooms" which has a curtain door and walls that don't go up to the ceiling, so you can hear everything going on outside the room. The "Chiropractic Doctor" comes in with an airpod in one ear and tells me we'll be doing an adjustment before the massage. I respectfully decline the adjustment. He says okay, the massage therapist will be in shortly. He doesn't give me a name, so here I am naked on a table with a single towel over my back side, not knowing who's about to walk through the door. A guy in street clothes walks in, doesn't introduce himself and gets to the massage. Honestly, I added a star because the massage was decent and DEEP, which I like...but borderline painful. After the 60mins, he says okay all done with not another word and walks out. I never write reviews, but this experience was SO UNCOMFORTABLE. Ladies especially, avoid this place!
Feb 18, 2022 · Simone CarrI love this place and come here every month! Isabel is my favorite! She has some very special massage techniques that really do wonders!I’ve felt my body change for the better, and my skin get more toned and firm after seeing her. Not only do I feel younger but my body looks younger and more toned because of her! Can’t recommend her enough!
May 18, 2023 · Hello ThereHonestly, this is the best massage place I have ever been to. The massage therapists are incredibly professional and give deep tissue massage which release tight knots and muscles, while also focusing on pressure points to calm the nervous system. The doctor is incredibly kind and caring and has all sorts of tools like accupuncture, adjustments, pressure points, etc. to help calm the nervous system and ease pain. Amy at the front desk makes you feel as welcome as you could possibly want or need. There is always availability and they are flexible. I very highly recommend this place!
Dec 01, 2016 · KristinAfter 2 years of less activity due to covid my body has really slowed down. I went to get a 90 minute massage from Basilio and an adjustment from the new owner Dr. Choi. If you like deep tissue targeted massage that is a little bit on the painful side but very effective this is the right place. No frills just get the job done and on the road to recovery. I felt 100x better the next day, a little sore but thanks to my massage therapist and Dr. Choi, I know I'm on the right path to better mobility and alignment. Love this place. Thank you!
Jul 21, 2022 · KM TangoI have gone to The Pain Stop about 10 times over the past 12 months and am very happy with the results. This is not a soothing spa. It is a therapeutic Chinese Medicine / Acupuncture and Chiropractor (with massage as part of your treatment) office. Do not come here to be indulged or pampered. It can hurt a bit to get a deep tissue massage, but when I have deep issues it's the only way to release severe knots or strains (also has helped with migraine headaches). Sometimes the masseuses literally walk on your back. It can be a hardcore deep tissue beat down. You can request a lighter touch if you desire though. You can also go for just a massage which is $65 an hourThe set up is like a giant loft with walls that do not go all the wall up to the high ceiling and curtains in the doorways. Yes, you do hear foot traffic from the hall or occasionally the other clients talking. This lack of privacy does not bother me, so I am still giving it five stars. It is very clean, low priced (plus they take Blue Cross Insurance), they are extremely accommodating (always get me in the same day I call). The combination of the deep massage (& pounding) and an adjustment from Dr. Choi is the only thing that quickly stops the pain in my back and hip (Sciatica) before I become bed bound.
