Maryland Spine Care

Chiropractor, Physical therapist ★4.0

4601 Benson Ave, Halethorpe, MD 21227, USA

4.0
I'm sure this place is great for the DOT exams but I came as a first time patient for a fall I had and paid $120 for a brief conversation, hydro massage, and TENS unit. He said I needed an MRI before doing anything further but I have to pay $50 to come back for anything. Had I known that's all I would be paying for I would have left and gone somewhere else. A professional massage might have been a better choice for me. Not sure I'll be back with these prices for what they provide. - Kristin Lucero-Golden

Maryland Spine Care Introduce

For residents across Maryland, particularly within the Halethorpe area and surrounding communities, finding a chiropractic provider who offers both professional expertise and dedicated patient care is essential for maintaining optimal health and well-being. Maryland Spine Care, located in Halethorpe, strives to be that trusted partner, providing a range of services designed to address musculoskeletal discomfort and promote overall spinal health. In our daily lives, various factors—from prolonged sitting to physical activities or unexpected injuries—can lead to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. Chiropractic care offers a natural, non-invasive approach to identifying and correcting these issues, focusing on the intricate relationship between your spine, nervous system, and overall bodily function.

The core principle of chiropractic care is rooted in the understanding that the body possesses an innate ability to heal itself, provided there is no interference with its vital nervous system. The spine, serving as the protective casing for the spinal cord, is central to this system. When the vertebrae of the spine become misaligned, even subtly, these misalignments (known as subluxations) can put pressure on nerves, leading to a cascade of symptoms such as pain, numbness, tingling, and decreased function in various parts of the body. Maryland Spine Care aims to diagnose and correct these subluxations through precise chiropractic adjustments and complementary therapies. This process helps to restore proper nerve flow, alleviate discomfort, improve range of motion, and enhance the body's natural healing capabilities.

Whether you are seeking relief from chronic back pain, recovering from an injury, need a Department of Transportation (DOT) exam, or simply looking to maintain your spinal health, Maryland Spine Care is dedicated to guiding you toward a healthier, more comfortable, and more active life. Many individuals in Maryland turn to chiropractic care not only for symptomatic relief but also as a proactive measure to prevent future issues and support their long-term well-being. The practice's focus is on understanding your unique condition and providing tailored solutions that promote lasting results.

Services Offered

Maryland Spine Care provides a range of chiropractic and related services aimed at addressing musculoskeletal health and specific patient needs. While a comprehensive list of all services is not always publicly detailed, based on common chiropractic practices and patient reviews, their offerings typically include:

  • Chiropractic Adjustments: Core to chiropractic care, these involve precise techniques to correct spinal misalignments, aiming to relieve nerve pressure and restore proper joint function.
  • Pain Management: Addressing various types of pain, including back pain, neck pain, headaches, and sciatica.
  • Injury Rehabilitation: Treatment and support for individuals recovering from falls, auto accidents, sports injuries, or other personal injuries. This includes addressing acute and chronic discomfort.
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) Exams: A specific service catering to commercial drivers, providing the required physical examinations to meet federal regulations. This indicates expertise in occupational health.
  • Hydro Massage: A therapeutic modality that uses water pressure to provide a soothing and relaxing massage, often used to alleviate muscle tension and improve circulation.
  • TENS Unit Therapy (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation): Application of low-voltage electrical current to relieve pain, often used as an adjunctive therapy to chiropractic adjustments.
  • Initial Consultations and Examinations: A detailed assessment of a patient's condition, including their health history, to determine the most appropriate course of treatment.

Features / Highlights

Maryland Spine Care, and particularly Dr. Ingram, receive specific highlights and features that can be appealing to local patients, alongside areas that prospective patients should be mindful of:

  • Excellent Services and Personal Attention: Dr. Ingram is highly praised for providing "excellent services with the personal attention a patient deserves." This indicates a strong commitment to individualized care and patient comfort.
  • Pleasant Doctor with Patient Care Priority: Patients describe Dr. Ingram as a "pleasant doctor" for whom "patient care is his utmost priority." This suggests a compassionate and dedicated approach to healthcare.
  • High Recommendation for Dr. Ingram: One reviewer explicitly states, "I highly recommend him," highlighting strong patient satisfaction with Dr. Ingram's overall care.
  • Specialization in DOT Exams: The clinic appears to be well-regarded for Department of Transportation (DOT) exams, suggesting specialized expertise in occupational health and regulatory requirements for commercial drivers.
  • Availability of Adjunctive Therapies: The mention of hydro massage and TENS unit as part of initial patient care indicates the use of supportive therapies to enhance comfort and aid in pain relief.

However, prospective patients should also note an important point raised in a review regarding billing and treatment transparency. A patient expressed dissatisfaction after paying for an initial visit that primarily consisted of a brief conversation, hydro massage, and TENS unit, with a recommendation for an MRI before further chiropractic work. This patient felt that the cost ($120 for co-insurance) was not adequately justified by the services received during that initial visit, and that a clearer explanation of the process and costs should have been provided upfront. This highlights the importance of:

  • Asking Detailed Questions: Patients should always inquire about what an initial consultation includes, what the expected costs are, and what the subsequent steps in the treatment plan will be, especially before any payments are made.
  • Understanding Pricing and Policy: Clarify co-insurance, co-pays, and any potential additional fees for follow-up visits or diagnostics (like MRIs) that may be recommended.
