For residents across California, particularly those navigating the fast-paced environment of San Francisco, maintaining physical well-being is often a significant concern. The demands of modern life—from long hours at a desk to active urban exploration—can lead to various musculoskeletal discomforts, including back pain, neck stiffness, headaches, and limited mobility. When these issues arise, seeking professional chiropractic care can be a proactive step toward alleviating discomfort and improving overall quality of life. In the heart of San Francisco, Fishkin Chiropractic aims to provide solutions for these common ailments, focusing on methods that support the body's natural healing processes.
Chiropractic care is a healthcare discipline centered on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. The core philosophy is that proper alignment of the spine and healthy nerve function are essential for optimal health. Chiropractors use a variety of techniques to correct spinal misalignments, which can interfere with the nervous system and contribute to pain and dysfunction throughout the body. At Fishkin Chiropractic, the goal is to identify the underlying causes of your symptoms and implement a tailored approach to help you achieve long-term relief and improved function. This holistic perspective aims to not only address immediate discomfort but also to enhance your body's inherent capacity for wellness and resilience.
Fishkin Chiropractic is conveniently situated at 2460 Mission St, San Francisco, CA 94110, USA. This location places the practice squarely in the vibrant and easily accessible Mission District of San Francisco. The Mission District is renowned for its lively atmosphere, diverse culture, and excellent public transportation links, making Fishkin Chiropractic a practical choice for many Californians in the Bay Area.
The Mission Street address ensures high accessibility. Public transportation is a major advantage, with numerous Muni bus lines running directly along Mission Street and the 24th Street Mission BART station within reasonable walking distance. This makes it convenient for patients commuting from various parts of San Francisco and even from other Bay Area cities. For those who drive, while street parking in the Mission District can sometimes be challenging, there are often metered spots and public parking garages in the surrounding blocks, though it's always advisable to plan ahead. The presence of a "Testing Office" in the address might indicate a specific setup or function within a larger building, but the primary focus is on providing chiropractic care from this accessible location. The office maintains regular hours from Monday to Friday, with Saturday appointments available by request, offering flexibility for busy schedules.
Fishkin Chiropractic offers a range of services aimed at addressing diverse musculoskeletal conditions and promoting overall well-being. Their approach involves a thorough evaluation to determine the most effective course of treatment. Services include:
- Comprehensive Chiropractic Evaluation: An initial consultation typically includes a detailed case history, spinal examination, neurological and orthopedic testing, and chiropractic treatment. X-rays may be taken if clinically indicated (at an additional cost).
- Spinal Adjustments: Utilizing various techniques to restore proper movement and alignment of spinal and joint dysfunction. This includes:
- Diversified Technique: A widely used manual adjustment characterized by rapid yet gentle manipulation of misaligned joints.
- Flexion Distraction Technique: A gentle, low-force method that decompresses the spine through controlled stretching or traction, particularly effective for lower back issues.
- Drop Table Technique: Employs specialized drop-piece mechanisms within the treatment table to assist adjustments, reducing the force needed to move specific spinal segments.
- Trigger Point Therapy: Targets hypersensitive areas within muscles to reduce pain and release muscular knots caused by trapped lactic acid.
- Physical Therapy Modalities: The office employs various physiotherapeutic approaches, including ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, and Russian Stimulation (rehab EMS).
- Traction Therapies: Includes both intersegmental traction and manual traction to help decompress the spine and alleviate pressure.
- Rehabilitative Methods: Incorporates various physical therapy techniques such as Thera-Band exercises and treadmill use to aid in recovery and strengthening.
- Innovative Therapies: The practice is committed to exploring new and highly effective treatment methods, such as H-Wave therapy, which is utilized for chronic pain patients who may not respond to traditional muscle stimulation.
- Personalized Home Instructions: Patients receive guidance on activities or procedures to perform at home, such as ice or heat application, avoidance of certain positions, and specific exercises or stretches to support their recovery.

First time visit (and last). Desk staff were cordial, but the place was overbooked, and the staff were quite distracted by clerical tasks. Scheduled appt. with Dr. Fishkin, but got subbed out to another. This one was at first "curt," then became simply rude, almost aggressively so. He seemed resentful at even being there. Weird and very disappointing. I have serious neck issues which require slight accommodations on the treatment tables, to which the staff were resistant, then unable to provide. Simple things like an adjustable incline with a padded face cradle—common for any other chiro I've gone to. The whole vibe of the place was very unprofessional.
